Description

The Recombinant Human IGF-1 LR3 Protein manufactured by Seafrom is suitable for promoting cell growth and proliferation in research studies.
IGF-I is a peptide growth factor that functions as a mitogen to stimulate the proliferation and survival of various cell types, including muscle, bone, and cartilage tissues. IGF-I is primarily produced by the liver, although different tissues produce IGFs at different times. It belongs to the insulin gene family and shares structural and functional similarities with insulin, but its growth-promoting activity is significantly higher than that of insulin. The expression of IGF-II is influenced by placental lactogen, while the expression of IGF-I is regulated by growth hormone. Both IGF-I and IGF-II signal through the tyrosine kinase type I receptor (IGF-IR), and IGF-II can also signal through the IGF-II/mannose-6-phosphate receptor.
Mature IGFs are produced through proteolytic cleavage of inactive precursor proteins that contain N-terminal and C-terminal propeptide regions. Recombinant human IGF-I and IGF-II are globular proteins consisting of 70 and 67 amino acids, respectively, with three intra-molecular disulfide bonds. IGF-ILR3 is a recombinant analog of human IGF-I composed of the complete IGF-I sequence with a substitution of arginine for the third glutamic acid and a 13 amino acid N-terminal peptide extension. IGF-ILR3, designed for enhanced biological potency, has an increased half-life in vitro and reduced binding to endogenous proteins in vivo, making it an ideal choice for research and large-scale cultivation.
The lyophilized form can be stored at 2-8°C for 24 months. For aliquoting, it can be reconstituted using sterile water, saline, culture medium, or PBS. After reconstitution, it is recommended to divide it into smaller portions and store at -20°C for 6 months or -80°C for 12 months, with a final diluted concentration of no less than 100 μg/mL, while avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
