Accuris™ SmartDoc™, model E5001-SDB-E is manufactured by Benchmark Scientific. This product is designed to safely view nucleic acids in agarose gels. Using blue light instead of ultraviolet light is safer for laboratory personnel and will not damage DNA samples. The lighting base emits strong blue light with a peak output of 460nm, which can best excite nucleic acids dyed by safe green dyes (SYBR Green, SmartGlow, GelStar, GelGreen, etc.). The orange cover is suitable for illuminating the top of the base and acts as a blue light-absorbing filter to visualize fluorescent samples. The cover can also be set at a certain angle to facilitate the gel to enter and cut out DNA bands for further study.
