It consists of a bioabsorbable polymer stent containing everolimus and a bioabsorbable polymer coating. The release of everolimus is designed to prevent excessive growth of tissue within BVS. Over time, the stent will dissolve and absorb into the body, leaving only four tiny platinum markers embedded in the arterial wall. These markers enable your doctor to identify the position of the stent placed previously. As the stent dissolves and absorbs, the stent gradually disappears and new cells replace it.
