Pathogenesis-related (PR)-10 proteins, due to their special secondary structures, can bind to various ligands that are important for their biological functions. Therefore, it is possible that the major apple allergen PR-10 protein Mal d 1 also binds molecules in the hydrophobic cavity of its secondary structure, but has not been studied in this regard. The study of PR-10 protein and ligand binding may be important for PR-10 protein sensitization and provide further insight into its physiological role.
