Tyrosine kinase receptor ErbB3, also known as human epidermal growth factor receptor 3 (HER3), is a membrane-bound protein encoded by the ERBB3 gene in humans. ErbB3 is a member of the epidermal growth factor receptor family (EGFR/ERBB), and like other EGFR family members, it consists of three parts: an extracellular ligand-binding domain, a transmembrane domain and an intracellular domain. ErbB3 binds neuregulin ligands, but it cannot mediate intracellular signaling through protein phosphorylation. However, the ErbB3 heterodimer responsible for tyrosine phosphorylation can form a receptor complex with high affinity with ErbB2 or other EGFR members, and can also initiate related pathways of cell proliferation or differentiation. ErbB3 has been shown to be related to many Malignant tumors, such as prostate, bladder and breast tumors.
