Hemoglobin A1C (abbreviated HbA1c, A1C, Hb1c; HbA1c (sometimes abbreviated as HbA1c) is the combination of hemoglobin and glucose in the red blood cells of the blood and is often used as a reference standard for the average plasma glucose concentration over a period of time, generally the proportion of hemoglobin glycosylated is proportional to the level of plasma glucose concentration over a period of time. Hba1c is measured primarily to determine three-month average blood sugar levels, used as a diagnostic test for diabetes, and can also be used as an evaluation test for blood sugar control in people with diabetes.
