Morin is a flavonoid compound, with a conjugated, planar aromatic structure. The dye has often been used as an analytical reagent, especially as a fluorescent reagent to determine Al. In the presence of the surfactants, the Al(III)-complex can further react with surfactants to form an Al(III)–morin–surfactant ternary complex, which can lead to a great enhancement of RRS intensity and yield a new sharp RRS spectrum. In a certain range, the concentration of Al(III) is directly proportional to the enhanced intensity of RRS.
