Fluidized Bed Reactors are widely used in the chemical processing industry. The salient feature of the fluidized bed reactor is that the solid bed or catalytic particles are supported by upward gas flow. The reactor is easy to load and remove catalyst. This is advantageous when the solid bed must be removed and replaced frequently. With this type of reactor, a high conversion rate with a large output can be achieved. Such a reactor inherently has excellent heat transfer and mixing characteristics. The fluidized bed has been fully utilized in the chemical process, with parameters such as diffusion or heat transfer being the main design parameters. Compared with packed beds, fluidized beds have significant advantages, such as better temperature control, no hot spots in the bed, uniform catalyst distribution and longer catalyst life.
