Gas transfer membrane contactors allow gases (such as oxygen/carbon dioxide/ammonia/hydrogen sulfide/nitrogen dioxide, etc.) to be transferred from gas/solution (water) to the atmosphere or absorbed through porous dispersion of hydrophobic membranes. The contactor consists of thousands of capillary fibers (made of PP or Teflon polymers) wound around a central tube. Since hollow fiber membranes are hydrophobic (water repellent), liquid (water) cannot penetrate the pores of the membrane walls. The higher the pressure difference between the liquid flow and the gas flow, the better because the air transfer membrane is higher. Therefore, the contactor provides a constant interface area over the entire flow range.
Dehumidification is the process of removing excess moisture from the air in a space. This is important for many reasons, including improving indoor air quality, preventing the growth of mold and mildew, and reducing the risk of structural damage to buildings. There are several ways to dehumidify a space, including using a dehumidifier, ventilating the space, and using an air conditioner. A dehumidifier is an appliance designed to remove moisture from the air by sucking in air from the surrounding space, cooling the air, and then condensing the moisture in the air. Condensed moisture is collected in a tank or drained through a hose. Dehumidifiers can be used in a variety of environments, including homes, offices, and warehouses, and are especially useful in humid environments. Ventilation can also help dehumidify by bringing in dry outdoor air instead of humid indoor air. This can be achieved through natural ventilation, such as opening doors and windows, or through mechanical ventilation, such as using exhaust fans or an air exchange system. Air conditioners can also help dehumidify a space by cooling the air and reducing its ability to hold moisture. As the air cools, the moisture in it condenses and is expelled from the air through the evaporator coil of the air conditioning system. Overall, dehumidification is an important process in maintaining a comfortable and healthy indoor environment, and there are several ways to achieve it.
