Lysozyme, also called muramidase or N-acetylmuramic hydrolase, is a small, monomeric enzyme that hydrolyzes the β-1,4-linkages between N-acetyl-d-glucosamine and N-acetylmuramic acid residues in the peptidoglycan of bacterial cell walls. To separate and extract the native states of lysozyme from chicken egg white, this service provides a hybrid method for the mobilization of proteins after non-denaturing gel isoelectric focusing (IEF) combined with detection of lysozyme activity.
