Centrioles are cylindric organelles in the cells of animals, certain algae, and fungi. The centrioles are located near the interphase nucleus or the center of the spindle pole region of mitotic cells, and sometimes move to the base of the cilia and flagella on the cell surface, called granum.
Centrioles are the organizational centers of microtubules and are also closely related to the formation of spindles.
