Description

Perkin Elmer PE 9700 Thermal Cycler, 4.0 - 99.9℃, model PE 9700, is manufactured by Perkin Elmer. The Perkin Elmer GeneAmp 9700 PCR Thermo Cycler system is intended to be used for high-sample-volume polymerase chain reaction (PCR) applications including DNA and RNA. Users can take advantage of oil-free operation with this model’s heated lid and Thermal Isolation Frame. The graphical user interface of this Perkin Elmer model enhances user experience and provides clear instructions for hassle-free programming and manipulation.
Exchangeable sample blocks fitted into the system allow for convenient expansion of 0.5 mL to 0.2 mL in 96-well format. These supplementary instruments boost unit flexibility. Users have an option to choose between block and 0.5mL operating modes. Sample block temperature can be displayed on block mode. This capability is inherited from previous models including the DNA Thermal Cycler and DNA Thermal Cycler 480.
Taking the 9700 Thermo Cycler up a Notch
The enhanced GeneAmp 9700 is an automated model, equipped with a control panel that has elastic keys and a full numeric keypad. Time and temperature profiles are displayed on the graphical screen in every run.
Perkin Elmer GeneAmp 9700 PCR units are offered in various formats. Blocks are interchangeable to accommodate a wider range of tubes and well-plates. The system also features a small footprint, Peltier heating and an intelligible user interface. GeneAmp 9700 thermal cyclers are also equipped with RS 485 communicators and a PCMCIA card.
Options for Further Improvement
The MAX Mode is a non-compulsory addition for this system. This optional method gives users the freedom to choose which among the software-driven modes suit their needs best. Utilizing emulation mode allows for the attainment of an average heating and cooling rate of 3.5°C/second. In this mode, cycling profiles of the system are likened to that of the 9600 model. Power input adjustments can be carried out under the Variable Ramp Mode. Altering power input allows a range of ramping rates to be used for specialized research applications. Activating the Max Mode increases heating and cooling rates up to 5°C/second. Using the same method, operators can raise sample volumes up to 100 ul.
