With the LINSEIS MSB PT 1 allows for weight measurement over a wide temperature and pressure range and under corrosive media. This magnetic suspension balance includes a balance for record of measured values, a suspension coupling for carrying the weight of the sample, a sensor for measuring the position of the levitation part, and a control unit for control of the suspension coupling. The levitation magnet and a holding magnet is used to realized the non-contact transmission of the sample weight. The levitation magnet includes a permanent magnet and the holding magnet includes an electromagnet hanging on the balance. The position sensor provides the actual position of the levitation magnet, and the PID controller uses the electromagnetic force as the adjustment variable to determine the stable suspension position. Through magnetic coupling, microbalances can be established under ambient conditions. Therefore, the balance can be protected from high temperature, high pressure and corrosive media.
