Survivin is a small 16 kDa protein that belongs to the Inhibitor Apoptosis Protein (IAP) family. It consists of an N-terminal BIR (Baculovirus Inhibitor of apoptosis protein Repeat) domain and a long α-helical C-terminus18. In cell division, survivin is localized at the centrosomes and microtubules, controlling the assembly of CPC at the inner centromeres by binding to phosphorylated histone 311.
