IL-36 belongs to the IL-1 cytokine family. IL-36 can only become active functional form after N-terminal shear, which plays an important role in inflammation and tumor immunity. Il-36α, IL-36β, and IL-36γ are cleaved into active forms, bind to IL-36 receptors, transmit signals via MyD88-MAPK/IKK-AP1/NF-κB, and eventually release cytokines (IL-36, etc.), chemokines, and promote inflammation.
