Introduction

Pentraxin 3 (PTX-3) belongs to the pentraxin superfamily, which is an important part of the human innate immune system and plays an important role in human vascular biology. Like short pentraxin, PTX3 plays a role in promoting the dysregulation of mitotic signaling pathways, maintaining cell proliferation, angiogenesis, insensitivity to apoptosis, invasion and migration of tumor cells, and immune evasion of tumors. Unlike short pentraxin, PTX3 is produced by a variety of cells at sites of inflammation. Prostate biopsy results confirmed that 80% of patients had chronic inflammation, and PTX3 seemed to be associated with inflammation-related carcinogenesis.
