As a polysaccharide, starch is the second most abundant biopolymer in nature. Because starch is biodegradable, non-toxic, and low-cost production, it has been used as raw material in diferent industries for many years. The applications of starch include adhesives, foams, fermented products, pharmaceuticals, papermaking, binders, packaging, and textile industry. Soluble glutinous rice starch (SGRS) is a natural biopolymer, which has better binding characteristics than dextrin. SGRS is widely used in the food industry, but nearly not at all in the pharmaceutical industry like dextrin.
