Many laboratory processes and experiments require that samples or specimens be heated or cooled to a specific temperature, boiled, cooled or frozen, or have their temperature otherwise altered or manipulated. Most labs use at least one type of heating device, such as hot plates, ovens, heating mantles and tapes, oil baths, sand baths, air baths, salt baths, hot-tube furnaces, hot-air guns and microwave ovens. It is necessary to use the proper equipment to generate the desired temperatures, and most of these products are designed for specific purposes.
