Ultrasonic cleaners are cleaning devices that transmit high-frequency sound waves through liquid to clean laboratory equipment. Cleaning occurs when the sound waves, typically 40 kHz, agitate water or a solvent-based liquid to cause cavitation or bubbling. The resulting molecular explosions create enough force to dislodge dirt or other contaminants from the surfaces of items immersed in the liquid. They are available in a range of sizes and configurations. Ultrasonic cleaner accessories include beaker covers for specific sized beakers, various general- and specific-purpose cleaning concentrates, perforated trays, mesh baskets and more.
