Description

The high throughput and low operating cost of the IonWorks Quattro system make it very suitable for the initial screening of directed libraries, compound spectrum analysis and safety assessment. Automated patch clamp systems provide higher throughput than conventional patch clamps, but there is still an urgent need to match the throughput of alternative assays while reducing the assay cost per compound. To achieve this goal, Molecular Devices has developed the IonWorks® Quattro™ system with population patch clamping (PPC) technology. PPC technology can improve data quality and bring stability and consistency, which is necessary for robust single-point screening and pharmacological analysis of ion channel targets. In the IonWorks Quattro system experiment, the change between wells is so consistent that a highly robust Z'-factor can be obtained, and is similar to the Z'-factor value obtained on the FLIPR® system.
