The Shandon Cryotome SME is an advanced, top-of-the-line cryostat that combines automatic electronic advance and hands-free sectioning with fully independent specimen temperature control.

The Cryotome SME is ergonomically designed for operator comfort. With its open top design, temperature gain is minimal during prolonged use. This Shandong model also has a convenient flat roof for extra work space, and retractable front wheels for added stability. In addition, the Cryotome SME has a key lock to secure the control panel for added security, and a convenient flywheel with three position deadlock lever.

The microscope is precise and accurate, yet gives a sense of light balance over the entire range with an advanced mechanism that allows selection of 0 to 30 microns in 1 micron steps. Located outside of cold work environments, it is easy to clean and maintain.

Other features of the Shandon Cryotome SME Cryostat include: a knife holder that accepts knives or disposable blade holders, a refrigeration system with efficient rapid cooling technology plus a frost-free freezer chamber for fast defrosting, and a maximum cooling temperature down to -35°C (at 20°C environment).
