The dentinal tubule runs through the entire dentin and is arranged radially from the pulp surface to the enamel dentin boundary. The tubule is straight at the tooth tip and root tip, and curved at the neck of the tooth.
The inner wall of the dentin tubule is lined with a thin organic membrane. It is poorly mineralized and is called Lamina limitans. The organic membrane contains high glycosaminoglycans, which regulates and prevents dentin tubule mineralization.
