Official Full Name: Fc gamma receptor IIIb<br />Also known as: CD16; FCG3; CD16A; CD16b; FCGR3; CD16-I; FCGR3A; FCR-10; FCRIII; FCRIIIb<br />The protein encoded by this gene is a low-affinity receptor for the Fc region of gamma immunoglobulin (IgG). The encoded protein acts as a monomer and can bind monomeric or aggregated IgG. This gene may have the function of trapping immune complexes in the peripheral circulation. Several transcript variants of this gene have been found encoding different isoforms. A highly similar gene encoding a related protein was also found on chromosome 1.
