Condensate Testing

Condensate is produced by the condensation of steam in the pipe of steam boiler. The condensate water has very little impurities and is very hot, which makes it suitable for heating feedwater. So, returning the condensate back to the boiler saves water, but more importantly, it saves fuel. The more condensate returned to the boiler, the less make-up water needed, the more energy saved.

Although condensate is practically 100% pure, clean water, it is not without problems. Condensate is low ionic strength water and typically contains dissolved gases, notably CO2, which will form carbonic acid at the right pH, and carbonic acid will attack copper and iron in piping and equipment. So, it is necessary to monitor the dissolved gases level in the condensate.

STEMart provides a wide range of testing services to monitor the condition of condensate, assisting manufacturer in water treatment to prevent corrosion in the boiler drum, steam lines and condensate return systems.
