Cotransfection (CAT#: STEM-GT-0009-WXH)

Introduction

Co-transfection refers to the simultaneous transfection of two separate nucleic acid molecules into a cell, allowing each to carry out its function within the same cell. In some cases co-transfection of DNA is necessary to study overexpression of two genes simultaneously or to use overexpression of one gene to quantify the transfection efficiency and study the overexpression of another gene. Co-transfection of several plasmids is also usually performed in the process of virus production.

Applications

Co-delivery of multiple plasmid DNAs for virus production
Co-transfection of plasmid DNA and siRNA to investigate gene function
Co-delivery of plasmid DNA and mRNA for gene insertion, etc.
Generating a hybrid vector for protein–protein interaction studies.
Stusy of RNA interference and functional assay.
Assess small RNA transfection efficiency or to determine the regulatory effects of the small RNA on a specific gene.

Procedure

1. Plate cells
2. Prepare co-transfection complexes
3. Distribute the complex mixture to cells in complete growth medium
