Oral cancer is the general term for malignant tumors occurring in the oral cavity. Most of them belong to squamous cell carcinoma, which is called mucosal mutation.
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used to examine exfoliated oral epithelial cells from malignant lesions in the oral mucosa to determine whether SEM surface characteristics might be useful and specific to predict more accurately the nature of these lesions.
