Decorin (Core proteoglycans) is a secreted proteoglycan of the leucine-rich low molecular proteoglycan (SLRP) family. Decorin regulates the biological activity of extracellular collagen matrix as well as matrix-related growth factors FGF, GDF-8 / Myostatin, TGF-beta, and WYP-1. It also binds and activates the EGF receptor, ErbB4 and IGF-1 receptors. Decorin promotes myoblast differentiation, supports angiogenesis and inhibits tumor development. Some studies have shown that Decorin may inhibit the contracture of hypertrophic scar, indicating a certain role in preventing the formation of hypertrophic scar and promoting the maturation of scar.
