Official Full Name: MDS1 and EVI1 complex locus
Also known as: EVI1; MDS1; KMT8E; PRDM3; RUSAT2; MDS1-EVI1; AML1-EVI-1
The protein encoded by this gene is a transcriptional regulator and oncoprotein that may be involved in hematopoiesis, apoptosis, development, cell differentiation and proliferation. The encoded protein can interact with CTBP1, SMAD3, CREBBP, KAT2B, MAPK8 and MAPK9. This gene can translocate with the AML1 gene, leading to the overexpression of this gene and the occurrence of leukemia. Several transcript variants of this gene have been identified, encoding several different isoforms.
