Also known as: HR54; hHR54; RAD54A; Hrad54
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the death-like helicase superfamily, which is similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Rad54, which is known to be involved in DNA homologous recombination and repair. This protein has been shown to play a role in homologous recombination-associated repair of DNA double-strand breaks. Binding of this protein to double-stranded DNA causes DNA topology changes, which are thought to promote homologous DNA pairing, and stimulate DNA recombination. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.
