Description

The Recombinant Human Noggin Protein manufactured by Seafrom is suitable for inhibiting bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) activity.
Noggin belongs to a group of diffusible proteins that can bind to ligands of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) family and regulate their activity by inhibiting their interaction with signaling receptors. The interactions between TGF-β ligands and their natural antagonists have important biological significance in developmental processes, where cell responses depend on the local concentration of signaling molecules. Noggin was initially identified as an antagonist of BMP-4, and its role is crucial for the normal formation of the head and other dorsal structures. Therefore, noggin has been shown to regulate the activity of other BMPs, including BMP-2, -7, -13, and -14.
Loss of the noggin gene in mice leads to prenatal death, with the recessive phenotype characterized by severe skeletal abnormalities. Conversely, transgenic mice that overexpress noggin in mature osteoblasts exhibit impaired osteoblast differentiation, reduced bone formation, and severe osteoporosis.
Recombinant human noggin is a disulfide-linked homodimer composed of two 205 amino acid chains with a total molecular weight of 46 kDa.
The lyophilized formulation can be stored at 4°C for 24 months. Once reconstituted, the liquid can be stored at -20°C for 6-12 months, while avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
