Metagenomic Sequencing (CAT#: STEM-MB-0041-WXH)

Introduction

Metagenomics is a method proposed by Handelman to directly study the entire genome information contained in the microbial population. Taking the entire microbial community in a specific habitat as the research object, high-throughput sequencing technology is used to obtain the sum of environmental microbial genome information to study the community structure, species classification, phylogenetic evolution, gene function, and metabolic pathways of environmental microorganisms. It avoids the isolation and culture of microorganisms in samples, provides a way to study microorganisms that cannot be isolated and cultured, and avoids the deviation caused by changes in microbial sequences caused by environmental changes during the experiment.

Applications

• Study the community structure, species classification, phylogenetic evolution, gene function and metabolic network of environmental microorganisms
• Uncovering microbial differences between diseased and healthy individuals
