Tail Suspension Test (TST) (CAT#: STEM-AE-0003-WXH)

Introduction

Tail Suspension Test (TST) is a classic method that can quickly evaluate the efficacy of antidepressant drugs, stimulant drugs, and sedative drugs.
Fix the tail of the experimental animal so that its head hangs downward. The animal struggles in this environment, trying to get out of the predicament. After trying hard, it still fails to get rid of it, and it appears intermittently immobile, showing a state of "behavioral despair". This behavioral hopelessness model is similar to depression, and is sensitive to most antidepressant drugs, and its efficacy is significantly correlated with clinical efficacy, so it is widely used in the primary selection of antidepressant drugs.

Applications

• Primary choice for antidepressants
• Evaluate the efficacy of antidepressants, stimulants, and sedatives

Procedure

The operator uses non-stick glue to suspend 1/3 of the tip of the tail of the mouse in the tail suspension box, so that the head is facing the camera and about 10cm away from the bottom of the box.
The immobility latency period within 6 min and the duration of immobility state within 4 min were recorded by the camera system.
