Analysis of Citric Acid (CA) by Ultraviolet-visible Spectrophotometer (CAT#: STEM-MB-1359-LGZ)

Introduction

Sensitivity: 0.05 mmol/L
Detection range: 0.05-5.0 mmol/L
Precision: inter-lot difference of 5.4%, intra-lot difference of 4.2%
Detection equipment: Ultraviolet-visible Spectrophotometer
Detection wavelength: 545 nm

Principle

Under acidic conditions, hexvalent chromium Cr(Ⅵ) is reduced to Cr3+, and the latter is complexed with citric acid. The product has a characteristic absorption peak at 545 nm. By measuring the increase of absorbance value at 545 nm, the content of citric acid in the sample can be calculated.

Applications

For the determination of citric acid in liquid, animal and plant tissue and mitochondrial samples.

Procedure

1. Prepare standard samples and experimental samples.
2. Add reaction reagents in order for reaction.
3. Measure the absorbance of each tube.
4. Make the mark curve and calculate the result.

Materials

• Sample Type: liquid, animal and plant tissue and mitochondrial samples
