Analysis of Sialic Acid (SA) by Ultraviolet-visible Spectrophotometer (CAT#: STEM-MB-1321-LGZ)

Introduction

Sensitivity: 0.022 mmol/L
Detection range: 0.022-7 mmol/L
Precision: inter-lot difference of 7.1%, intra-lot difference of 3.9%
Detection equipment: Ultraviolet-visible Spectrophotometer
Detection wavelength: 560 nm

Principle

Sialic acid (SA) forms a purple red complex with methyl resorcinol in the presence of oxidant, and the absorbance conforms to Lambert-Beer law. By measuring the absorbance of the complex, the sialic acid content can be calculated.

Applications

It is used to detect the content of sialic acid in serum, plasma, saliva, urine, pleural effusion and animal and plant tissue samples.

Procedure

1. Prepare standard samples and experimental samples.
2. Add reaction reagents in order for reaction.
3. Measure the absorbance of each tube.
4. Make the mark curve and calculate the result.

Materials

• Sample Type: Serum, plasma, saliva, urine, pleural effusion, animal and plant tissues, cell samples
