Special Staining to display structure in tissues (CAT#: STEM-PET-0002-WXH)

Introduction

In order to display and determine normal structures in tissues or cells or abnormal substances, lesions, and pathogens that appear in pathological processes, it is necessary to select corresponding staining methods for displaying these components. Including: collagen fiber staining (Masson, etc.), reticular fiber staining, elastic fiber staining, muscle tissue staining (phosphotungstic acid hematoxylin), fat staining (Sudan III), glycogen staining (PAS), mucus staining (PAS), etc.

Applications

Common specialty dyeing applications:
• Collagen fiber staining: Observation of organ sclerotic diseases; Differentiation of scars and amyloids; Differentiation of fibrous dysplasia and bone fibrosis.
• Reticular fiber staining: differentiation between carcinoma and sarcoma; differentiation between bone matrix and secretion plasma or edema fluid; differentiation between inflammatory cells and cancer cells; differentiation between necrosis and postmortem autolysis, etc.
• Elastic fiber staining: identification of arteries and veins; diagnosis of elastic fiber injury disease.
• Lipid staining: determine fat embolism in tissues and organs such as heart, brain, and kidney; study fatty degeneration in heart, liver, etc.

Procedure

1. Tissue fixation
2. Dewax the slices to water
3. Dyeing with dye solution
